Asia’s Largest Gay Dating App Shut Down

The popular gay dating app, Blued, has halted new registrations after allegations that teens had contracted HIV after using the app for to look for unprotected sex.

This is not the first controversy the Chinese app has faced. There have been multiple reports of pedophiles using the app to find minors. It’s not uncommon to see minors displaying themselves on camera in the group chats many users report. In addition, the app has been banned in Indonesia as part of its general anti-gay crackdown according to Gay Star News.

There have also been concerns about spying from the Chinese government. Specifically the Chinese government using the app to determine who is gay. The app is currently Asia’s most popular gay social networking with over 40 million users.
